    Massage is in high demand for pregnant patients, yet myths about the safe applications of massage still need to be dispelled, and safer massage practices for circulation and positioning need broader understanding. 

    This course, which has been reviewed by healthcare professionals in prenatal care, provides a continuing understanding of how to address the discomforts of pregnancy and provides instruction in advanced techniques addressing the pelvic and round ligament pain associated with pregnancy. 

    This course delves into the problems of stress which negatively affect the growing fetus and the constitution of the person carrying the child and how massage therapy, and wei qi energy massage can help counteract those stresses.

    Advanced techniques including acupressure, neuromuscular therapy, lymph drainage and myofascial release are included in massage protocols, and invites the creativity of the therapist. 

    In addition to hands-on practice and instruction this course addresses awareness of social issues surrounding traditionally underserved populations from a social science lens.

    Upon completion the therapist will have built upon knowledge from Pregnancy Massage I courses in draping, positioning, massage and contraindications. The therapist will have a clear understanding of their role in the healthcare team of a pregnant person. The therapist will have a deeper understanding of clinical applications for massage to address specific concerns for the discomforts of pregnancy, and safely deliver medical massage techniques for pregnant people who have experienced soft tissue injury. 

    The therapist will have a deeper understanding of the dangers of social issues which create barriers to prenatal care for underserved populations.

    This weekend is fun filled with classic spa treatments that will enhance your cash sales, decrease pain for your medical massage patients, and make you more marketable to spas and salon settings.

    All treatments are modified for use in a “dry room” meaning you do not need a shower facility to perform them.

    These treatments are rooted in the foundations of clearing lymphatic tissue and improving circulation. These treatments not only detoxify the body from buildup of wastes from exercise but leave the body looking better as well. The French call this Santé et Beauté [Health and Beauty].

    Essie worked in the spa industry for many years as an educator, menu designer, consultant and spa director. She has first-hand knowledge of the foundational skills needed for the latest in spa trends, how to market yourself and what to expect working in the spa environment.

    This course is focused on Trigger Point Therapy and myofascial pain from the basis of Janet Travell, leading pioneer in the advancement of trigger point therapy in chronic pain and injury treatment. 

    Treatment of myofascial pain in this course will focus on the application of pressure, stretching, and deeper understanding of movement and the role it plays in releasing pain and tension from the body. 

    Whether you are working with top performing athletes, or people who have sedentary jobs, understanding trigger point and myofascial release treatments will help improve pain, and increase mobility for your clients.

     

    Kinesiology, Trigger Point Anatomy and Myofascial Anatomy will be reviewed. 

    Bodymechanics and proper use of hands and elbows are a strong focus in this class, with a base of knowledge coming from martial arts of Tae Kwon Do, and Aikido. Appropriate use of force and pressure will be carefully discussed in protecting the comfort of the patient and protecting the physical needs of the practitioner. 


    Therapy will be centered on client communications and creating a dialogue with patients about their comfort, and meeting them where they are in their healing. 

    Tracking patient outcomes will be reviewed as well as S.O.A.P charting.
